Camden Learning has been awarded with an Education Business Award for ‘Best School Procurement’ following their collaboration with GRI.
Camden Learning is a schools partnership formed by all the state-maintained Camden schools and the local council. Camden Learning’s member schools are made up of all school phases from within Camden including primary, special and secondary schools and all the variations of maintained schools, community schools, voluntary aided, free schools and academies. They became a GRI client in 2017.
The Education Business Awards is a long-standing and highly regarded annual awards programme which celebrates operational excellence. Schools are nominated from across the country for their achievements in over 20 categories. Camden Learning was identified by the Education Business research team as being a trail-blazing initiative worthy of their “School Procurement” category, which recognises an individual project where a school has worked with an outside agency (in this case GRI) or local authority to refine its buying practices and increase value to the taxpayer. It was a hot contested category with four other schools/academy trusts also shortlisted.
It is a real testimony to the achievements of the partnership that Camden Learning secured the win on Thursday. The judges were impressed with the partnership’s vision and the results this vision achieved, stating:
“By negotiating one fixed, reduced charge rate for supply teachers, this years’ winner made savings of 14 per cent and removed the need to negotiate rates each time.”
